We have all thought about how tremendously different our life would be if we could just wake up one day and buy that house of our dreams… or that one supercar… or even pay off that debt that’s been a huge burden to us or our parents. Now, thinking that could happen overnight is foolish, of course, but the act of dreaming it isn’t. Especially if you act upon it… and this is where 99.9% of people fail.
It is said that the man who thinks he can and the man who thinks he can’t are both right. And why is that? It’s because their mindset is what allows them to do — to take true action to achieve their goals. It doesn’t matter how long you take to do something, for so long as you don’t quit until it is done. However, you need to believe that you can before you do it and be able to push through those moments when you feel like giving up because it’s hard.
Theodore Roosevelt once said, “Nothing in the world is worth having or worth doing unless it means effort, pain, difficulty”. To truly achieve the great aspirations that we have in life and to live the life that only a few are living, we must first stop thinking and acting like the many. This means that we need to go the extra mile every single day when others don’t. This won’t be easy, of course. But what’s the alternative? To fall behind like the rest? A lot of times we are afraid of taking risks, thinking that we will fail. What we fail to realise is that the biggest risk of them all is not taking any action, for that is when we let the world eat away at us, and no man of honour can live that way and be content.
Now, the first step towards adopting a strong mindset that will lead us to success is to make our “why” so big that the “how” becomes easy. We must first understand why we want to embark on this journey that can be so painful and lonely. Only then can we keep the fire inside that’s going to lead us to the destination we have set for ourselves. If we keep God close to our hearts we cannot fail, for he is guiding us in our way.
For many, however, this fire alone isn’t going to keep them on track. That’s because they aren’t yet the person they need to be to achieve what they must. That’s perfectly fine and normal. Your current version of yourself is most likely not yet capable of making your dreams a reality. So, think about all the traits you need to develop to achieve these… and act as if you are already this person. Truly manifest it. Trust God and yourself and everything will fall in place, so long as you keep putting in the work. It all compounds.
Remember, the hardest part is to get the ball rolling.
